Chairman Statement

First, I would like to express my gratitude for the confidence you have placed in our firm. From our beginning in 1988 and our initial approval as a broker dealer by the NASD, FINRA's predecessor, in January of 1989 we have always strived to place our clients' needs first.  We had humble beginnings — me, my first partner John Reid, and our sales assistant.  John unfortunately passed away in 2005, but his cheerful and bright personality has left a lasting impression on our firm.

We firmly believe that we provide small firm care and concern with large firm products and protection.  Through our partnership with RBC Correspondent Clearing and their parent, RBC Capital Markets, we are able to provide our clients with asset protection from one of the largest firms in the industry.  We have grown from those humble beginnings to over seventy (70) professionals and support staff, and see a very bright future for our firm and the industry.

I don't have to remind many of you that in 2008 things did not look very bright.  In fact, through my forty four (44) years in this business, that was the absolute worst time I/we have had to experience.  However, by the end of 2009 and through 2010 the markets began to recover and started a pattern of higher highs and higher lows.

There are some uncertain aspects to the market and our economy — mainly caused by our politicians in Washington, but this has always been the case.  In life, as in investing, a very dangerous point of view is "it is different this time."  Our main philosophy is asset allocation.  If done properly it minimizes the down turns and allows you to participate in the up turns.  We are constantly reviewing our portfolio performance to be sure we accomplish our goals of providing the proper mix of assets for your risk tolerance.

In closing, let me say once again how grateful the management and employees of Buckman, Buckman & Reid, Inc. are for the confidence you have placed in us, and know that we do not take that for granted and work every day to earn that confidence.

                                                                                                Best Regards,
                                                                                                H. John "Jack" Buckman
